Slowly waiting to see what the fuss is about.

It seems the knitting community is constantly abuzz with words about Ravelry. I hear it’s an awesome database to track your stash, show off your FOs and UFOs, and has great chat forums, etc. I am eager to figure out what’s so special about it, and so I jumped on the bandwagon.
I’m waiting patiently, as [...]

My brush with knitting celebrity. Is this how Crazy Aunt Purl started?

In my constant endeavors to learn more and appreciate knitting, I was online last night, and decided to look up information about one of the authors of this book, which I recently purchased on Amazon at a super-bargain price.
Knit 2 Together, by Tracey Ullman and Mel Clark is full of a lot of great patterns [...]

A way to get him into the cult, I mean craft

My son has a great love of machines and Legos, and is obsessed with Bionicles right now. Of course, I enjoy knitting. Here’s a way that maybe I can get him interested in knitting! Watch! A knitting machine made entirely of Legos!

A little funny story

Related to MDSW, I was talking to my son last night, explaining where I was going over the weekend while he had a “Boys’ Weekend” with his dad. He understood that it was like a “Girls/Mommies’ Weekend/Sleepover”. I explained a bit about what the festival was about, and he made the connection with the sheep [...]

Hey! A different knitting book!

A while ago, my knitting pal (former SP) Cheryl (HI CHERYL!) turned me onto “Crazy Aunt Purl” (www.crazyauntpurl.com), which is written by a lovely Southern gal named Laurie who discovered knitting as a means of creative therapy during a painful divorce. I love reading her blog all the time now. She’s just so cute, and acts [...]

Calling all knitting compatriots and sympathizers! Unite!

After such a lousy day all the way around, I mustered up enough to ask JC if I could have a mini Mommy vacation. Not that I need permission, per se, but just to see how he felt about it, if we could afford it, if he had any plans, any reason to object to [...]

You know you are a knitter when….

…your husband is installing a light fixture, and just needs a few washers for some screws that aren’t fitting in right, but nothing too big, and you are willing to sacrifice your extra small stitch markers to do the job so that you can get that new light fixture in!
Turns out in the end that [...]

That’s what friends are for…

My friend Sandy is a quilter. Nothing wrong with that, in fact, she is incredibly talented at what she does. Check out her website, Quilty as Charged, to take a peek. She asked me a while ago to help her with a thumbless mitten knitting pattern that she was making for her daughter Julia. She [...]

Yay! New Computer!

Thanks to my new computer, I’ll be blogging a lot more. And I have a built-in camera, so that means more in-progress pictures!
Everybody happy dance with me.

You know you are a true knitter when….

You know that you are a true knitter when you are in a deep sleep early on a crisp, autumnly September morning, snuggling in your covers, and in your dream you are visiting a place on a vacation, and you come upon a store in your dream. The store is a curiosity store of sorts, [...]
