Holiday knitting? What was I thinking?
Don’t get me wrong…I think it’s perfectly fine to do holiday knitting. I dabbled in it a bit last year, giving my brother hat and some coordinating wrist warmers, and I gave my boss wrist warmers last year as well. But this year, at this late date, I’m practically out of luck doing it. I couldn’t think of what to get my boss on short notice (she gave me a lovely jeweled pin), especially when I really don’t have a big budget for just about anyone this year. So, I went to Michael’s yesterday, and after figuring out what the NY Giants’s colors were (her favorite football team), I’m working on a striped scarf with Lion Brand Quick and Thick yarn, because that’s what I’m hoping it will be– quick! I just got it started last night, and I really need to work on it over the next few days, as I don’t have much time. I had also started, for the 4th time, a hat for myself. I frogged it three times until I got it right. That’s on hold until the scarf for the boss is done. I’m also supposed to be working on some mittens for Drew, but I think that has to wait too.
So, do you think it’s possible for a busy mom like me to get any knitting done, let alone holiday knitting done? In my head, even though Christmas is still 12 days away from this writing, I have to have everything done in a week. That’s because I won’t see my boss again after next Thursday due to winter break, and we’ll be seeing most of the relatives a week from Saturday. That doesn’t give me much time now, does it?
Well, I guess I should stop typing…and get knitting! Maybe someday I’ll be able to start well enough ahead of time to be able to get all the knitted projects I wanted done finished, but this year, I don’t think it’s going to happen. :-S

Oh, I feel your pain — so, so, so feel your pain. I have THREE knitting projects just started this week that I want to have done by Christmas, and there’s just no way! Luckily, one is a scarf for my husband, and I think I could get away with just giving him a 4×4 swatch in the pattern along with a promise that the scarf itself will materialize some time in January!
I gave up on Holiday knitting years ago. I have good intentions, but you know what they say about those!
