Hooray for another FO!

I tell ‘ya, I’m on a roll! It sounds funny, but I had two– no, make it three incentives for finishing this project.  First, I was so far along, that once I got going, there was no turning back. Second, my feet were cold and I wanted them done. And third, but not least, I needed the needles for another project! :-P

So, without further ado, here is my latest FO– my crazy socks!New Socks are comfy!
The new socks are comfy!

These are made with a discontinued yarn called “Dancing” by Knitpicks. I think the color was called “Caribbean” or something like that. There are imperfections in it, as usual. But I don’t plan to wear them out very much. They are pretty warm, and they will be my “keep my feel warm when I’m home laying about watching TV and knitting” socks. :-)

So, after doing so many projects on two circs, I’m kind of ready to do something on some straights for a while! Or at least do a project where it’s not done in the round. However, as I said, I was freeing up the #2 circs I used for this project for a mitten project I started last year for Drew, and need to finish up. I think. I have to double check. I might just frog the mittens in the end, because it’s with good wool, and I don’t want him to lose them like he did the nice hat last year. But I do need to knit myself a new hat, and I have the yarn to match my jacket, so that still might end up being a project in the round. And then there’s the Mosaic Skirt I want to do in the round eventually…Oh well. I’ll figure it out.

I think with socks, my main problem is a) following directions when I’m tired, b) picking up the heel stitches to get going on the gusset, and c) in the case of last night, being awake and aware enough to do the toe decreases correctly. I’ll get it right eventually. I do think, however, that I have the main idea now on how to do socks on two circs, as long as I have the pattern with me. It doesn’t feel as complicated to me anymore. I do have the booklet on how to do the Magic Loop, but perhaps I’ll figure out how to do a more original pair of patterned socks on two circs before I learn to do that. Enjoy the colorful stripes on the socks, and think summer!

  1. Nice! I have some socks in that exact same colorway. I got the yarn for Christmas last year. They are a bit too thick to wear inside my shoes, but they are perfect for wearing around the house.

  2. Thanks! I agree that they are too thick, unless you are wearing boots or something like that where you want thick socks! But like you, I wear them around the house thusfar, and they are nice and toasty. :-)
