Slowly waiting to see what the fuss is about.
It seems the knitting community is constantly abuzz with words about Ravelry. I hear it’s an awesome database to track your stash, show off your FOs and UFOs, and has great chat forums, etc. I am eager to figure out what’s so special about it, and so I jumped on the bandwagon.
I’m waiting patiently, as I’m getting closer to the finish line, methinks. They do have this cool feature for the non-members who’ve signed up so that you can track where you are in their cue. This morning I checked, and this is where I’m at:
- You signed up on August 22, 2007
- You are #27867 on the list.
- 298 people are ahead of you in line.
- 15374 people are behind you in line.
- 59% of the list has been invited so far
Almost there!
In the meantime, I’m working on a pair of Voodoo wristwarmers as a surprise for a friend. They are almost done, and it’s using a huge ball of yarn that is somewhat variegated in fuschia, pink, lilac and a very faded pale green. It was a hank that Drew and I dyed more than a year ago. Drew had chosen the colors, and it was a Kool-Aid dying process where we sun-dyed everything (kind of like making sun tea) with cherry, strawberry, grape, and arctic ice flavors. The fruity smells have dissipated (it smells like regular wool), but what’s nice is that in knitting it up, it’s turned into self striping yarn, at least for this project! Sweet! Who would’ve guessed? I suspect I might finish the project today, if I have time. Photos soon, I hope!
ETA: I finally made it on at shortly after 9 PM this evening! Woo Hoo! Now…let’s see what this is all about…I’m the same name there…windsornot…if anyone wants to look me up.
