Picture time– finally! :-)

Well, I guess we’ve all been really busy these days with our knitting projects. I know I have! I finally got around to taking some photos of my latest works of art (cough, cough).  Some of the colors may look off, as I took the photos with my camera phone, so the quality might not be the best, but at least I have them recorded for posterity!

First, the Birthday sweater for JC:

This is the Cambridge Jacket Sweater that’s featured in Interweave Knits Summer 2006. They had it in orange/rust in the magazine. I chose the same yarn, but different color. It’s hard to tell from the photo (or at least how I view it from my machine), but it’s a pretty heathered teal green color, with a few flecks of teal and yellow in it. There are mistakes galore in this, namely in the back of the collar (I messed up the rib pattern), and somehow, even though I carefully tracked my rows etc. the sleeves ended up too long, so I hemmed them. I also found that I should have skipped the crocheted edge on the bottom, and the bottom of the zipper still needs to be tacked down. But otherwise, not too bad, huh? JC likes it, and that’s what counts. It fits him just fine.

The other project which was completed very quickly were a set of knucks/fingerless gloves or mittens. I used the “Voodoo” pattern from Knitty.com, and it was VERY easy. I don’t think I goofed up too much on these, it was that easy. I used Cascade 220 for this pattern too, since I liked it from JC’s sweater project. It’s yellow, more like a mustard gold color, and it has flecks of teal, red and blue throughout it. These are for my boss/TKD instructor, as I know she seems to like this color. I hope she likes them!

So…onto the next project. I think this time, if I don’t make another pair or two of these Voodoo hand warmer things, then it’s time for me to make a new winter cap/hat. I have yarn that matches my jacket (or rather the trim on the jacket, to coordinate with that and the knit cashmere gloves someone gave me a while ago), as now it’s starting to really get cold around here, and I have finally learned that yes, putting a hat on DOES make me feel warmer. I just have to decide what kind of hat to make….hmm….decisions, decisions….

In the meantime, Knitty Gritty is coming to HGTV! FINALLY! I don’t get the DIY Network (unless I upgrade to digital cable, which isn’t happening anytime soon unfortunately), so I’m excited about watching it. In fact, I gotta go now so that I can try to tape it too! It’s on in 10 minutes and counting!

Enjoy!

  1. I like the jacket a bunch! Pretty color, too; I’ll bet it suits JC nicely.

Did you give the knucks yet? I’m just now catching up on blogreading…
