Why can’t I sew well?
You may be asking, why I might be asking about sewing when this is a knitting blog. Quite simple, my dear. When making many items of clothing, say, like a sweater, you usually make it in pieces and then sew the parts together. Well, either I’m a bad knitter or a bad seamstress, but there are holes along the seams, and I am having a hard time picking up stitches to make the collar of this bloody sweater. It didn’t help when I was at my MIL’s today trying to kill time (time, I might add, that I could have killed at home instead), in dark lighting with her asking me questions when I was at a critical point, almost losing picked up stitches or losing count, etc. Bother! The initial seams don’t look too bad. When I have a straight line to do, like the shoulder seams, or the inside of the arm or side, I’m fine. Collar areas always mess me up. Yuck. I know there is also some crocheting involved, and I have to install a ZIPPER. I went to the local JoAnn’s today with child in tow and got a few, hopefully to figure out which one fits. But I don’t understand what I did wrong that I can’t get the sewing part quite right.
Bleeh. Just par for the course during a yuck week.
