Just checking in!

I haven’t written here for a while, other than a few comments, so I thought I’d just stop by and say, HELLO! :-)

I am still knitting, of course. JC’s 40th birthday is on Thursday (man, I have a husband THAT old? And what’s scarier is that I’m not far behind, and he looks better for his age than me?), and his sweater is still in progress. I am on the 2nd sleeve, which I should be working on instead of typing here, but alas, there are things that I must do in the digital world now and then. Once that sleeve is done, then I believe it’s just a matter of stictching up most of the seams, working the collar on the sweater, finishing the seams, and then adding the zipper, and voila! It’s still a lot to do in just a few days. If it’s not finished, it won’t be a tragedy. He knows I’m working on it, and it’s a work in progress, and he’s a big boy that he wouldn’t mind if it was a little bit late.  But I’d still like to get it done very soon, so I can start to work on something else!  I did start a scarf for my boss for her birthday, but now it’s her Hannukah present instead. I hope she likes it.

It’s also nice that I have a new knitting buddy, who is still a beginner but definitely a crafty person. My new buddy, Sandy, whose LJ handle is “Oceandirt”, is a quilter for the most part, but she picked up her knitting needles that she just started with last spring, and she’s trying to knit her first pair of thumbless mittens. Her daughter has some serious physical disabilities, and her hands get cold, so she picked out this very pretty yarn to make something to cover her hands, especially for when she’s outside.  I was able to show her a double cast on, and we’ve been emailing about the best way to decrease, etc. So, it’s nice to see someone I know, other than my friend Leah, have any interest in knitting. One of these days, when I’m in the new house, I’ll have to have them over for a knitting bee or something like that. That would be fun.

So, I’m still here! Once I have JC’s sweater done, I’ll take pics and share, and then I can move onto other projects again, and be creative!
