Flax!

We have a family favorite apple orchard. They do the whole farm experience, complete with bottle feeding goats and calves, as well as chicks to hold, a corn pit to jump in and bury your sister or father in, and a tractor ride out in the fields to look at corn, squash and a bunch of other things. Some of the other things include flax. on our first visit of the new season, I decided to be cheeky and ask about harvesting some flax to process for spinning. Today, we went out to get a last bag of apples, choose our pumpkins and run around like the two year old that lives in all of us. I spotted the owner and asked about the flax, and he loaded us up on an atv with his brother, who took the kids and I out to pick some. The kids got cold, so I am going to head back tomorrow. That, and the whole eating a caramel apple on an atv is not the easiest thing ever.

I can’t wait to see if my experiment, and all of the reading I have done is going to work. I love the drape and feel of linen, and the good source of linen yarns in the US, Louet Sales, has raised their prices tremendouly in the past year. So maybe, just maybe, I can figure this out, right?
