Long Time, no talk - ditto
While I haven’t been writing here much, this isn’t to say that I haven’t been knitting. Quite the contrary. I have been spending time on my fiber fetish, but just not writing about it. I have one finished object, which I don’t have a photo of, but it was a nap mat for my son for “rest time” for school. I made it with Lion Brand Big Prints which looks like this:

Yes, it really is that big. I used US#17 needles, and after a while, it was very difficult to knit because of the sheer size and weight. I had to alter my plan of how large and the way I was making it, but I still was able to complete something the night before school started. It was about 2-2.5 ft. wide, and almost 4 1/2 feet long. Had to completely alter my “pattern”, but in the end, Drew had a unique mat to sleep on for school that none of the other kids have, and he loves the colors and he loves it because his mommy made it just for him. He actually asked me to make it for him.
We got back from vacation almost a week ago (already?), and I definitely brought fiber projects with me. I completely undid the sock I had been working on. Frogging a sock only partway is hard to do, so I figured it was easier just to start over. So I did some frogging and rolling up the ball of yarn. I also tried my hand at crocheting. Man, why is that craft so difficult for me? I really need some good person to person help. I had my Happy Hooker book with me, and I have a few books on the subject, and yet I still can’t seem to get the hang of it. Oh well. I had returned an extra skein of the Big yarn and traded it in for some nice aluminium hooks (vs. my plastic hooks, which always felt like they would fall apart if I made stitches that were too tight), so maybe that will give me additional incentive. I can get a basic starter chain going, but nothing more. I finally gave up, and continued on the sweater that I’m making for JC (my hubby). It’s the Cambridge Jacket by Ann Budd in the Summer 2006 Interweave Knits. The color is #9451 (Lake Chelan Heather) from Cascade Yarns– see below:

I had completed the back piece, and completed a good portion of the left front while on vacation. I would’ve liked more knitting time, but I actually was reading a book for a change (haven’t done that in a while!) early on, and since it wasn’t on tape, I can’t read and knit at the same time, unless it’s a pattern.
So, I have made some progress. I need to continue to work on the sweater for JC, as it’s either for his bday or Xmas, and if I can finish it for his bday in early November, that would be awesome.
In the meantime, back to trying to sell my house and do the TKD thing, and adjust to back to school schedules.
