Stuck with sock pattern
OK, I’m working with Cat Bordhi’s “Socks Soar on Circular Needles” book, trying to make my first sock ever, and working on the Simple Sock pattern.
Done so far:
Leg: CHECK
Heel Flap : CHECK
Turning Heel: CHECK
Picking up Gusset Stitches: Um, I think?
This is where I’m getting stuck. If I read this correctly, after I finished knitting the heel turn, I knit up the side of that piece X stitches to where it’s meeting back up with the leg part. CHECK. Then the directions are as follows:
Look at the other end of your needle, where the X heel turn stitches are patiently waiting. Transfer the distant [half] to the other needle. (You will maintain ribbing across instep all the way to the toe….Knit across half of the instep sts. You now have Y sts. on this needle.
OK, I can’t move beyond this point until I get this much, methinks. Somehow, I think I’m doing something wrong (and have backtracked enough to where I need to be). My circs seem all twisted and out of kilter somehow. I’m really confused on how this part is supposed to work. I started to try what I thought was right, and that seemed to make it worse, because then all my circs were twisted in different directions.
Experienced knitters who read this (I’m thinking especially Nicole and Cheryl)– HELP!!!!!

this is where i admit that i really don’t knit socks. i can, and have, but i guess i don’t see the point. i know, i know, but i am going through menopause, and the last thing i want is wool on my already hot feet.
but- my mom will be here on thursday, so if you don’t get it figured out by then, maybe she will know what to do.
Thanks anyway, Nicole. I appreciate the support (no pun regarding socks, of course) nonetheless! You just take care of yourself and hopefully you’ll find that row counter!
