Accidental Olympian

Well, I did cast on a project during the opening ceremony–Tubey, to be exact. On my third attempt at the provisional crochet cast-on, I succeeded and went scurrying off in stockinette, only to find that I had miscounted the cast-on and only cast on 58 st instead of 60. I feel like such a tard at the moment. I could have done an increase at either end, but I felt that because it was something I’d have to pick up and knit the other way, it’d be weird. So I’m going to try again tomorrow.

So if I can get it successfully on the needles tomorrow, I’ll go ahead and try the Knitting Olympics. Are you guys doing it?

  1. no- because the rebel in me feels like everyone else is doing it.

and the fact that at any given time i have a bunch of projects going and i know that i will not finish mariah in the time. maybe i’ll get lacey done, and another hot lava……

yeah. ugh. provisional cast ons are not the easiest. it took me at least five tries to get it right for my fair isle skirt, and longer for the linen one.
