First SnB meeting of Knitster.org!

Okay, it wasn’t official, but today Helen and I actually got together today and….knit! Helen is up here for the holidays staying with family in PA, and said that since she was stopping by some other friends’ house in Bristol, it was just a hop, skip and a jump (or a short car ride) to come up and visit with me for a little bit. She hasn’t seen my son since he was almost 3 (he’s 4 1/2 now), and she hasn’t come up to the house since he was a toddler. So interestingly enough, being the Knitsters that we are, she had her blanket project with her, and I had my scarf project I’m working on, and we just sat and gabbed and knit. It just felt SO natural for her and I to do this, and this is considering that we both started about a year ago, give or take. The blanket she is making for lil’ D is great! I’m impressed with her skills with cabling and yo’s and such (I’m not the master of that at all), which she liked the seed stitch I was doing for my scarf. In between the talk about the kids, family, work, friends, we were comparing what we liked about yarn and wool, techniques and projects in knitting. It was a rather relaxing afternoon, to say the least, and I know I enjoyed having her here. Hopefully we’ll have another meeting where we’ll have our project together and we’ll have more people bring their projects too. Considering we live about 200+ miles from each other, it’s not like we can get together often, but I think today showed that when this Mason-Dixon pair get together from now on, we knitsters will be knitting. ;-)

You know, we should’ve taken a photo of the event, and I didn’t even think of it until after she left. DOH!
