Christmas knitting frenzy
Well, it’s not a total frenzy yet. It’s been pretty quick so far. I decided that Lorena’s three girls (aka the triplets who got the ponchos this past summer) and their cousin Sydney– all in the 2 year old range– would be getting knitted gifts this year. I looked through so many books to get ideas of something quick to make. I haven’t mastered DPNs or circular knitting enough to make the planned hats and mittens that I had wanted (I guess that’ll be next year!), so then I thought Teddy Bears, and the pattern I was going to follow took too long to make 4 by Christmas (see Drew’s new sleeping buddy, Beary), so the solution in attemping something inaccurately is that I’m making fuzzy purses for them and mini teddy bears for each to put in them. That way they have their own pocketbooks when they go shopping with their mommy or play. I’ve got one bag done, the knitting done on a second (I haven’t sewn it up yet), and the start of one of the mini teddies. I had made another mini teddy, but I’m going to give that to newborn Penelope instead (it’s made of the same yarn as her layette set.) So…off to do more knitting! Photos when ALL of it is ready!

Ooh, ooh, what’d she send??
I’ll answer that– Cheryl was my Secret Pal (6), or rather I was the secret pal, as she didn’t know who I was until yesterday! My last gift was a bottle of Aromatherapy Lavender Lotion (a la Body Shop, of course), and Cool Crochet by Melissa Leapman and Debbie Bliss: Home by Debbie Bliss. The latter two I got as part of my book choices in the Crafter’s Choice promos to join– Cheryl is the beneficiary of me joining up!
Sent her other stuff in prior months too– more books, some Koigu yarn, some Lady Grey tea. I was a good Secret Pal! I still haven’t found out who has me yet!
