Knitting and Danny Phantom
OK, I think I am WAY out of my mind to be doing this, but I am. Drew finally decided that he wanted to be Danny Phantom for Halloween (see Nickelodeon if you don’t know who Danny Phantom is), so of course there’s no premade costume for that. Not to worry. Being a child who had more homemade costumes than anyone I know, I figured this one wasn’t too hard. I’m putting him in his old black sweatpants(if not the old ones, then the newer ones), and I bought a black sweatshirt to go with it. Now, the creative part. I bought silver fabric paint, and I’m going to paint the collar of the sweatshirt and paint the Danny Phantom logo on the sweatshirt.
So what does this have to do with knitting? Well, we chose a gray yarn, and I’m making legwarmers and fingerless mittens for the boots and gloves of the outfit. Oh, and knitting a belt too. I know, I must be insane, especially since I don’t necessarily have patterns for these things. I know I have mitten patterns somewhere around here, but the legwarmers, which I’ve started first, I’m winging it. I’m just making a ribbed thing so it can stretch. I’m about a third of the way done the first one. We’ll see how it comes out!
I’m wondering if my cardigan will EVER get done at the rate I’m going….

I was online searching for a Danny Phantom costume for my four year old son and your site comes up. I wish I had found the costume and could tell you where to buy it, but of course, I didn’t. I am only writing to say how impressed I am that you are actually making the costume yourself. Good luck and I hope it comes out great!

My son is 4 years old too! I didn’t think (DUH) to look online until after I had already committed to making it. I guess since I came from a home where we made our costumes most of the time, that it really didn’t bother me to make it. It’s almost done now– I have the leg and arm warmers done, so all I have to do is paint the sweatshirt, and that should do it!
