cable cable!
Well, we’re off! Helen has a new project OTN! Went out and grabbed a size 9 29″ circ to get started on the stepd’s blanket. I feel like I’m doing aerobics during one of the rows:
k4, p1, yo, sl1, k2 tog, psso, yo, p1, sl next 3 st onto cable needle and hold in front, k3, k3 from cable needle, p1, yo, sl 1, k2, psso, yo, p1, repeat!
I need a bigger cable needle, though. Working on 9s, the cable needle is probably a 4, and it’s a bear getting those stitches back up and takes two rows to recover.
the rest of the stuff is pretty standard k p variations, but i will never be bored on this project, that’s for sure!
and the new knitting pattern calendar is out!!!!!

Cabling is something I haven’t attempted yet, but figure I should. Rumor has it that once you learn it, it’s fairly easily. Of course, I still have to better master just the concept of “yo” correctly.
I’m having trouble yo’ing during a purl stitch, but I mastered the yo doing that handbag earlier this summer. That’s a fun pattern to practice with, btw. St. Johns wort is the name of the stitch.
Fortunuately i had a lesson in cabling last winter. god, i have been knitting that long already?
Yes, it’s been that long! I didn’t finally decide to start until around late February/sometime in March. I remember that I had my first formal knitting lesson on St. Patrick’s Day, and remembering telling the instructor that I had been trying on my own for the last 2-3 weeks already, so I’ve been doing it for a while too. But yes, you started around this time last year. Amazing how quickly a year goes by now, huh?
