Happy Birthday to ME! or Shopping Therapy

Well, today I was glad that I didn’t leave the house without my gift certificate for Glenmarle Woolworks that my parents had given me for my birthday. We had gone to the Princeton Shopping Center for lunch at the Quiznos, and I said I had wanted to go to Glenmarle after we ate. They had a sale where I bought two skeins of Koigu KPPPM for the Secret Pal that I have, saving 10% (it was still over the supposed monthly budget, but she’s getting the good stuff!), and then using the gift certificate, I got 8 skeins of SRK’s Butterfly mercenized cotton in 4 colors, primarily in turquoise, then “accent” colors of green apple, periwinkle and medium charcoal grey. They seem like the colors that are in right now for some sweaters I’ve seen, so I think this’ll be good. The 8 skeins were also on sale, as all cotton wool was 40% off! Hooray! So I got a LOT for just a little, and I still have a few dollars left on the gift certificate. Of course, JC was not understanding why I was getting something for myself with all the yarn I already have, but he’ll never quite understand. I also visited Chestnut Books at the shopping center, and was able to get Knit Wit by Amy Singer (of Knitty fame) and Hot Knits by Melissa Leapman for half price, which came out to me getting both books for about $20. Sweet! I think on the shopping front, I did pretty well today. Shopping therapy can be very good for the soul sometimes. :-)
