Almost done the layette extraordinaire!

I’m finishing up the last part of the layette set (for lack of a better term) I made for the impending Penelope, a new cousin due to be born in October. Her mother’s baby shower is on Sunday, so I have to finish up all the last minute stuff to get it ready. Miriam, Penelope’s mother, will find in her gift for her daughter the following hand-knitted items for her daughter:
- a sundress
- a cardigan
- a hat
- a pair of shoes, and
- a baby blanket that coordinates with the outfit listed above.

I’m thinking of buying a little pair of tights to go with the outfit, since that’s the only thing missing. If I can complete the baby blanket (it’s a bunch of squares that need to be sewn together, and I’m in the sewing stage), I might do some little mittens so she doesn’t scratch herself with her tiny fingernails. I still have to put buttons on the shoes and the cardigan, and one button on the dress, but in the big picture, most of this large project is done, and in the course of about a month or so. Whew!

The question is, once this is done, what should be my next project? Should I not do something for someone else for a while, and go back to the hooded cardigan I started for myself, or should I start something for Drew or JC? Decisions, decisions.

  1. That sounds so cute!!! good for you for getting it done on time!

I am still very slowly plodding away on Afghan squares for my aunt’s Christmas gift. I should come up with some mini projects to do in the meantime.
