What a disappointment or Caveat Emptor!
Hopefully I remembered my Latin correctly, but probably not.
I received my long awaited box of yarn from Newton’s Yarn Country. This was the deal where you sent in $25 and got 20 lbs of yarn for “free” (the $25 was for shipping purposes). Well, there was only one– maybe two– a stretch at 3– cones that I actually could use. Most everything was very thin yarn that’s for knitting machines. Bleeh! Most of them were passable colors, but there’s an ugly yellow gold one in there, and most of them are pinks and muddy colors. I’m really disappointed. I figured that I’d get cones of stuff, but not stuff that is basically thread, not yarn in my opinion. And some of the cones of mohair-like stuff is dirty to boot. How gross is that to get dirty yarn?
I mean, I knew that they would probably send old stuff, but I really feel like I got the bottom of the barrel, and they didn’t say anything that most of their stock would be the thin machine type yarn. What good is that to the average knitter, unless they plan on making a helluva lot of socks? (and I don’t know how to make socks, let alone that many!).
Big, big, disappointment. Buyer beware.
Update: Someone on my knitting community suggested double stranding the thin stuff. Not a bad idea. The trick will be figuring out how to do that! Another thing I’ll have to learn.

double-stranding is easy! I did it for the slippers I made, which was one of my earliest projects.
