Little bits of progress

I wrote up a WHOLE long write-up here last night, and just as I was about to publish it, we lost our cable connection (hence internect connectivity) for the rest of the night, and I lost it all. BLEEAH!

So, here I’ll try to rewrite most of what I said.

Work on the poncho is almost done. I got a lot done last night, so I’m about 98% done with the back panel of the poncho (already finished the front). Since I will easily be finishing that part up today, that gives me a fighting chance to put on the optional hood to it, which I’d like to do. I think it’d just work out nice if I had it on there than without. It’s all a plummy purple, so I think overall it’s going to look good. I will be knitting like the wind today, for sure!

The baby bunting has been done for about a week now. It’s too wide, so maybe it’s more like a blanket bunting than just a regular one. I also screwed up– and recovered– the buttonhole panel. Overall, it looks fine. Not the best work I’ve done, but not the worst either. Hopefully it’ll be appreciated by Drew’s teacher when I give it to her next week from us. Next week is her last week before she leave for permanent maternity leave. (The good news is that one of the aides whom I like a lot is a certified SpEd teacher, so she’s been hired to take her place! Woo-hoo!) When I get around to it, pics will be posted.

In the meantime, I did some shopping yesterday. I’m already thinking ahead to the next project, which will be a little dress out of a Debbie Bliss book, and it required size 2 and 3 needles. Well, I have these long straights from Walmart that were $2 a pair, but when I gave them a test drive, they seemed awkward. So, I decided that I needed 24-29″ circs instead. And the hunt was on– I checked everywhere and couldn’t find them. I was preferring bamboo or anything non-metal if possible so I could bring them on the plane on my trip to CA next week, but after a while, I was just hoping to find them at all! I could find size 3, but not size 2. After exhausting every craft store in the Mercer County area, I finally broke down and stopped at the Pins & Needles store in Princeton (aka one of my local LYSs). And I broke down and paid the ridiculous amount for the intensely desired circs in the form of Addi Turbos. Gave them a test drive later, and I do understand the hullabaloo about them! And the store owner said they should be airline safe, so I’m hoping so. And as much as I should not be buying any more yarn with 20 lbs. of it on the way soon (it’d better be on its way!), I cleaned them out of this one particular color that was discounted at 50% off. I was pretty sure it was the same color I had bought months ago and was planning on using for the next project. Sure enough, it was, and it was even still the same dye lot. Score! So I was happy about that.

Now…off to finish the poncho!
