Saucy no go

I have not been able to find a LYS that carries Reynolds Saucy. I’d like to see it before I buy online cause I have a Tahki yarn I like that might substitute. Garrrr! Ordinarily I wouldn’t worry about it, but because this is a gift I don’t want to experiment.

  1. I think the trick is that as long as the Tahki yarn gauges out the same, it should be fine. I do not have a knack for this gauging thing quite yet, but I’m still working on it. Or at least not good with gauging boucle/homespun type yarns. :-S

  2. Gauge and texture are two different things, though! :) I should use the same throughout, and if I do that I think it will work.

  3. Ah, texture is the issue! THAT I can appreciate. I was at one of the LYSs in my area yesterday, and deciding to touch some of the yarns that were mucho expensivo, and I thought they felt like brillo pads! I’m very much in favor of something extra soft, so I see what you are saying now!

  4. sometimes harsher yarns knit into wonderful fabrics, but this is a lightweight afghan for their beach house. However, I got commissioned into an easier project: Em’s toddler kept trying to steal my purse today, and kept saying “My Bag!” So I’m going to make him a messenger bag of my own design, based on the one in SnBN but made toddler sized, so he can have his own bag.

  5. I think the mini messenger bag is a great idea! I know that’s how I started making that psuedo-sweatshirt sweater for Drew that has the overly long sleeves and the hood that turned into a collar. He saw me knitting my sweater and said he wanted one, and voila! But I like the bag idea better, and it will be quick and easy to do, I’m sure!
