Stitch N’ Pitch

I saw this on another knitting site and had to post– I wish they had this where I live!

Because I’m lame…

…and because my aunt has some crazy dogs and a cat who eats wool, I’m making the afghan from a decent acrylic. But I will say this is in no small part because I never found the Saucy, and it would have cost me $200 to make the thing from the Tahki yarn. Yes, I […]

Man, I really need to learn to gauge better

I am making good progress now with the baby bunting for Drew’s teacher. I have followed the directions…sort of…for most of the pattern. I’ve had to adapt a little along the way because the latest part of the project– the sleeves– have ended up being about twice as wide, if not wider, than they should […]

Saucy no go

I have not been able to find a LYS that carries Reynolds Saucy. I’d like to see it before I buy online cause I have a Tahki yarn I like that might substitute. Garrrr! Ordinarily I wouldn’t worry about it, but because this is a gift I don’t want to experiment.

SnB book sale!

Went to the local B&N bookstore to pick up a copy of Baby Knits for Beginners by Debbie Bliss. Had looked at it yesterday, and decided that I wanted it enough for the patterns to have more variety to choose from baby patterns. Anyhow, went down to the Hamilton Marketplace one, as I wanted […]

Round the corner!

I have found an afghan project I want to do for my aunts’ beach house. It’s a beachy, cotton afghan with basketweave squares and several intarsia designs with seashells and starfish and the like. I can start doing the basketweave squares once I can get the yarn. Definitely have it in time for Christmas, and […]

Frogged it…again!

I tell ‘ya, this baby bunting I’m working on for Drew’s teacher is taking a lot longer than I expected, and I really want to get it done quickly. Last night, I don’t know what happened– I got bumped, wasn’t paying attention, picked up the needles the wrong way– whatever. I ended up […]

The new issue of FC Easy Knitting is here!

I can’t believe that I’m excited about a knitting magazine, no less something from Family Circle. But I liked the summer issue I had gotten of Family Circle Easy Knitting, and by chance, while going to the supermarket to pick up some milk and some dishwasher pacs, I decided to go see if there were […]

Things to learn…

I am constantly thinking about the things I want to still learn in my study of knitting. I think I’ve gotten the basics down pretty well for the most part, and I already have lined up several projects for myself at this point. But somewhere along the line, I want to learn more. Some […]

Free Yarn?!?!?!?

Well, it appears to be almost free. The “catch” is that you have to buy a minimum of 10-20 lbs. (the exact amount is still being determined; I sent an email to clarify), and then spend $1.25/lb. for shipping. Still a good deal, because in my experience, a pound of yarn is like […]
