I finally have photos of my projects
Well, finally pulled out the ol’ digital camera (actually, the newer camera) and took some photos of the the projects I’ve completed since taking my official knitting and purling classes about a month ago. They are:
My first sweater:
My ugly pillow:

It’s only ugly because the stitches were too tight at spots, and not a lot in between. I think the concept was on the right track. I think the lesson learned from this was a) check your gauge better and b) use garter stitches with chenille, not stockinette.
Drew’s 1st sweater made by mom:

Here is Drew wearing the sweater:

Last, but not least, my first hat. The directions were good, and this is a basic hat design, only made “fancy” by the yarn itself. In its execution of being made, this was the first almost flawless thing. The only flaw is in the very top, which I discovered that I slipped a stitch at the very top accidentally. But it was easily fixed that you can’t tell. So I’m pleased with it.

I’m now back to working on the sweater/cardigan I started while driving down to VA for the wedding 2 weeks ago. Haven’t been back to it since Drew wanted his sweater and hat. It’s looking good so far, but it still has a long way to go!

Hmmm. Me thinks we need to figure out something about the big pictures and the little table width. Let me ponder how to best do this.
But it’s good to see your works in action! The hat and the sweater are so cute!!
I cut the size of them in half through width and height tags… on this layout we have a max width of about 350 px. Do you have a program that will shrink them like that?
Actually, I had already reduced the size of the photos down to a third of their original size before I posted them! :-S I’ll just make it even smaller next time, no big deal. Just wanted to also be able to show the detail in the works. I do have the full professional version of Photoshop, after all!
They bled out of the layout. I’m going to see about making it such that you can put larger pictures behind some kind of cut tag, but I haven’t found a plugin for that yet. Bear with me. Until then, the 350 px width should be the right size.. length unimportant. I miss photoshop!
OK, no prob. By the way, another suggestion– is it possible to make the comments via email optional? I know you like to receive stuff by email, but I’d prefer not to. I’d rather check and post directly on the site, so having it be able to work either way, by user’s choice like on LJ, would be good if you can swing it. If not, I’ll be fine.
I’ve upped your permissions, you should have an “options” tab in the dashboard now. Click the discussions tab and uncheck “email me whenever a comment is posted.” I’m curious to see if that’s user specific or site specific. Give it a try and see!
OK– it should be a done deal making the change. We’ll see what happens!
Let me know…
I like your knitster.org email address. Are you eventually going to be opening that up to the public as well, and is that a POP or other kind of email account? I’d be game for one of those…I’d probably get all my knitting emails that I’ve signed up for listed under that name!
It’s pop, but you have to have your own SMTP server. If that’s not a problem, I’ll go ahead and set it up for you. is dani at knitster ok?
That would be great! Being that we’ve got Comcast, I’m pretty sure I can set it up. If not, I can ask JC. Just let me know what I have to plug in…
I’ll get it set up… I’ve also deleted the explicit link to that email address because I don’t want to take a chance that it will be harvested by spammers. My old wiretapestry accounts got destroyed from spam.
