Maybe it’s the yarn/wool…

Started going back to my original big project which is still incomplete. That item being a sleeveless striped turtleneck-type sweater. The back side is done, and I’m almost done the front– getting towards the critical armholes point. I hadn’t picked this up in at least a week, and in that week, had completed the disasterous red chenille pillow and started the black “Lava” hoodie sweater that is using the boucle yarn. But returning to this sweater last night, I forgot how much easier the worsted weight-type yarn is to use. It just slides right off, and in the time it took me to get one row of chenille done, I got several done on this one. I guess using different types of yarn helps to hone your skills a bit, and I’ll probably stick to the nice, regular type yarn from now on, unless there is a special project! I’ll still work on the hoodie, as when it is knitted up, it’s really beautiful. The colors on it are prismatic without being glittery, if that makes sense. Back to knitting….

  1. Likewise, I can’t bring myself to go back to the homespun hoodie because the yarn, while it does knit up beautifully, is a pain in the arse to deal with!! I have a lot of pretty worsted weight acrylic lying around, looking to do some quick and easy stuff while experimenting with some different stitch patterns, I think.

  2. Exactly. I think I’ll try to finish out these two projects, and then stick to the worsted weight acrylics that I’ve been stashing away as well. I mean, even the wool spun and “professional” like non-acrylic stuff that you get at the good LYS is an improvement. Hopefully I can save up for some Rowan and Debbie Bliss sort of stuff.
